First, Navigate to the New Connection Wizard:
- Click Start on your "Start Menu"
- Click All Programs
- Click Accessories
- Click Communications
- Click New Connection Wizard
The New Connection Wizard will open:
- In Brief: this wizard helps you connect to the internet and networks
- Click Next
Now you will see, "Network Connection Type: What do you want to do?":
- The option Connect to the Internet should be already selected (green dot)
- Click Next
Now you will see, "Getting Ready: The wizard is preparing to set up your Internet connection":
- Choose the option Set up my connection manually (the green dot will move next to your selection)
- Click Next
Now you will see, "Internet Connection: How do you want to connect to the Internet ":
- Choose the option Connect using a dial-up modem
- Click Next
Now you will see, "Connection Name: What is the name of the service that provides your Internet connection? ":
- Type XpressAmerica
(this is Not cAsE-sEnsAtiVe; this is only used to identify the connection on your computer) - Click Next
Now you will see, "Phone Number to Dial: What is your ISP's phone number?":
- Type 15006990087 (no spaces or dashes are needed)
- Click Next
Now you will see, "Internet Account Information: You will need an account name and password to sign in to your Internet account.":
(PLEASE REMEMBER: You CAN NOT change your username and/or password unless you call us by phone)
- User name: here you will type the username that you chose with XpressAmerica when you signed up. In our example, the username is johndoe@xpressamerica.net (all lowercase letters; johndoe is probably NOT your username)
- Password: here you will type the password that you chose with XpressAmerica.
(your password is CaSe-SeNsAtivE) - Confirm Password: type your password again. If you type it incorrectly you will not be able to continue when you click next
- All boxes below should be checked
- Click Next
Now you will see, "Completing the New Connection Wizard":
- Put a check next to "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop"
- Click Finish
- You've finished Windows XP's New Connection Wizard, now you need to connect to the internet
To link your computer to the World-Wide-Web (the Internet):
- Locate and then Double Left Click the new XpressAmerica icon on your desktop
- a "Connect XpressAmerica" window will open
- Click Dial
Now your connection will call XpressAmerica by dialing our phone number, then it will Verify who you are by telling our "modem" your username and password
Once your username and password have "Authenticated" on our servers, you will see 2 little screens pop down by your clock in the bottom right hand corner of your "Start Menu". This means that you are connected to XpressAmerica. You can always check your connection speed by leaving the mouse over the 2 screens, after a brief moment, it will show you your Speed and the amount of Data transmitted. We consider a good connection anything over 45.0 Kbps (or 45,000 Kbps).
You may now browse the web by double left clicking on Internet Explorer (the big blue E). At this time we must advise you that your setup with XpressAmerica is NOT complete until you have ran our setup program. Being connected to our services means you Fully Understand our Policies. Our setup program sets up the actual connection to XpressAmerica AND sets up your E-mail with Outlook Express. It also places 2 shortcuts on your desktop... a direct link to XpressAmerica and a direct link to our Webmail (which can be accessed from any computer with a live internet connection).
