What is spam? Spam is Unsolicited "junk" e-mail sent to large numbers of people to promote products or services. Sexually explicit unsolicited e-mail is called "porn spam". Also refers to inappropriate promotional or commercial postings to discussion groups or bulletin boards. Lately spam has run rampid. Many companys offer spam protection, but there is no full proof way to stop all spam. Spam is almost like a virus. Some people have been known to get thousands a day. XpressAmerica reduces your spam three ways. The first is we match a potential spammers ip address against a very large database of known spammers. If their IP address matches the databases, mail is filtered out and stopped from getting to you. This database is updated by the thousands daily. The spammers never keep the same IP address for long because they know we are tring to stop them.
The next is the amount of activity on our server. When spam mail is sent from a company to a XpressAmerica address, our mail server bandwidth shoots through the roof. We are alerted to this, and find the spammer sending these emails by the thousands, and block them. The third is our spam server.
